Onward and Upward in 2009!

It is odd to have New Year’s Eve in the middle of the week.  It feels like a Friday night with all the anticipation in the air of big party plans.  I have no big plans - I’m not really a party girl - I prefer to stay home and leave the madness for the mad.   I’m going out tomorrow night, instead, to spend some time with M.  I have not seen him since before leaving for Alabama and I miss him.  On my way to dinner, I am going to stop and see Nikki for a bit.  The last time I saw her, she took family pictures for us and we were out the door before you could say cheese.

Tomorrow, being the New Year, I am going to start Project Mrs. Claus 2009.  I can’t tell you what it is yet, but I thought of something awesome to do for a gift for Christmas for MDS next year and I have to start it tomorrow.   It will take the entire year to pull off, but I think given that I’m planning ahead, it will work out very cool.

Also on my list for tomorrow are going to the gym and getting a manicure.  I could not be happier that I can run ever day finally.  Running centers me and clears my head in a way in the same way that yoga does.  Now I can have my yoga and running, too!  I am also going to spend time clearing my gmail and catching up, since most people I speak with for work aren’t going to be working - it’s a good day to plan and strategize.   If I catch a quiet minute I might try and write a blog post or two, who knows?!  I might just get crazy and write three!

Happy New Year!  Here’s to hoping that 2009 is full of forward momentum -  Onward and Upward!

The Week In Review

I’m wrapping things up to leave for Alabama.   It was a great week here.  A very nice package from a friend in NYC showed up unexpectedly with a bottle of Chartreuse and little finger puppets for the baby.  It was very sweet and we are very grateful.  Thank you, D!

Another package that I am expecting from NYC did not make it here yet, which is kind of a bummer.  I sent money to a friend to have something sent special for Marky and it hasn’t arrived.  I’m hoping it gets here before we leave for the Holiday.

My friend, EmJ, has a birthday while I’m away on vacation and I sent her a birthday package that she did actually receive on time.  This shocks me, since she didn’t get my Christmas card!  I am truly baffled by the USPS lately.  Happy Birthday, EmJ!  I hope that the 364 days between this birthday and the next are full of love, joy, and peace!

Happy Birthday tomorrow to La Profesora!  Your card won’t make it to you on time, but it’s worth it, because I included a couple of pictures for you.  I love you!  I am so proud of all you have done in the year since your last birthday.  You are truly inspirational.

I went out to dinner with M on Friday and was called home in the middle of dinner - the poor baby was very ill and nothing but Mommy will do in those times.  M was very understanding and we wrapped up food and I left very quickly.  It was disappointing to not spend much time together before leaving on vacation, but he will still be here when I get back.

The Dude had sex last week and refuses to give me details until I can honestly say that I did my ab workout, but since I can’t and he knows when I’m lying to him, I’ve heard no details about his sex.  By the time I get back from vacation, he will have forgotten and the story won’t be as juicy - what’s the point now?! ;-)

I am really, really behind on writing and email.  I’m hoping to catch up while I’m on vacation.  I owe email to friends that wrote me like a month ago!  My content list for Catalina Loves is up to something like 30 posts.  That’s on  my list of things to do not even my fantasies and experiences and adventures, and need I remind you I still have hardly written about my adventures in NYC!  Yes, I’m hoping that this vacation I manage to get some work done.  It sounds silly, but I have to go on vacation to work.

I worked on a very secret elf project this week and it was a lot of fun.  I wish I had another month to work on it, but time passes whether or not we like it.  I had a huge battle with a large pharmacy, who I won’t even name here because it will only give them a Google hit, who fucked up prints of our family photo that was done as a gift for my in-laws.  They look like they were done on a color copier, and poorly, in 1986.

And that’s about my week in summary.  I’m behind, I’m out of touch, and I have no social life to speak of.  Work is really cramping my style!  I have the best job in the world, actually, and the fact of the matter is that work is very much my social life.

I have a lot to say, just not a lot of time to say it!

I’m a very lucky girl.  I wake up to my husband, who has already gotten up before the alarm goes off and gotten the kids off to school and daycare without me even knowing it.  No, it’s not my birthday (yet).   It gets better.  I don’t drink coffee first thing in the morning - the idea of drinking something hot when I wake up makes me gag, so he brings me a cold Diet Pepsi instead.  I get snuggled awake and gently introduced to a new day.  It’s just one of the nice things that Marky does every day for me.  Funny that a sadist can be so sweet.   I think it’s the combination that makes him so perfect, actually.

One week exactly until my birthday.  I will be spending it in Alabama with Mark’s dad, stepmom, and something like 9 other people that I don’t know.  This is the sucky part of having a Christmas birthday.  No matter what, it’s still Christmas and my birthday is an afterthought.  Imagine celebrating your 21st birthday with your grandparents and cousins at the kids table.  Good times.

Let’s see, it’s getting late so the week’s synopsis:

  • I’m in love with my  new lipstick, recommended by Mz Berlin, who swore up and down repeatedly that I must own Black Honey lipstick from Clinique.  She was right.  It is the perfect lipstick.  Mz Berlin rocks for beauty advice.
  • I did a shoot with Altered Aperture on Monday, some of the images have been posted on Facebook, some on FetLife, some on my blog, and some on BestSexBloggers.
  • I sent out tons of holiday cards.
  • I got to talk to Lochai a couple of times.
  • I spent a night away from the kids with Marky, a gift from a very dear friend of mine.  We went to a nice hotel, had a private jacuzzi room, ate at Copper, and spend the entire night doing nothing (and then having great sex at like 5 am and sleeping in the next morning!)  It was our first night away in 5 years.  It was great.  I want to write about it separately so that’s all I’ll say for now.
  • I arranged for a very special Christmas surprise for Marky with a secret Santa cohort in New York City.  He has no idea what it is, and will be very surprised to see it.
  • I received a very nice book in the mail from a good friend who knew it was just what I needed!
  • I started running again.  I ran 2.25 miles, so I’ve lost some endurance and speed, but I will get it back.
  • I worked on a secret Elf project that I can’t even hint about yet.
  • I ate the best sushi with M on Friday night and hung out with him for the first time since I went to New York.  It was great to hang out.   He gave me a very nice bottle of Rioja that I’m taking to Alabama for my night away from the kids in the cabin.  Anyway, I will really miss M if I don’t see him this weekend, so I’m hoping to have a chance to see him again this weekend before leaving for Alabama.
  • I found out that a friend of mine is pregnant (this is good news for her!)
  • I went out for French Toast with The Dude and then borrowed his vacuum cleaner and vacuumed my entire house.  The Dude rocks, I’m telling you.  Seriously.   I think he has a girl at his place tonight.  I texted him to ask if he had gotten laid.  The fact that I got no response is a good sign.
  • Izzabelle tells me that she’s coming to visit this weekend, I can’t wait to hang out with her!
  • A former student of mine, who is just as adorable as can be, called and is going to be nearby to visit family and is coming to visit while he’s here.   I taught him several years ago when I worked in the boarding school in Ohio.  He was one of “our kids”.  We love him like the teenage son we never had.  Now he’s grown up and in college.  How bizarre!
  • I got a new movie from Madison Young to review, a Lelo Mia from VibeReview.com, and an entire shipment from SexToy.com of goodies to investigate and report on.  I’ll write a separate post about it on Catalina Loves.

and now…  I have to watch tonight’s Top Chef and go to sleep to get up and do it all again tomorrow.  It’s late, or early, depending on how you see it.  For me it’s late.  Goodnight :)

Happy ThanksBirthdayGiving!

We celebrated a day early and had a birthday/Thanksgiving dinner feast of stuffed pork loin, sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes, tomatoes, and birthday cake.  It was delicious, but man I’m full.  I’m glad I don’t have to cook a big Thanksgiving Day dinner for a houseful of people tomorrow, nor do I have to travel and sit at someone else’s house and pretend that I want to be there.  Actually, I was planning to work and work hard tomorrow, because S was going to the sitter - however, the sitter has found a “real” job and won’t be able to watch S.  Ugh.  Back to the drawing board.

Some interesting things - my friend, Joseph W. Carey (Stark-Arts) has just released a book that I’m dying to get my hands on and review.  You can find it on Blurb.  Also of note is Madison Young’s Femina Potens Art Gallery post on BestSexBloggers.com I love Madison Young and the stuff she does with Femina Potens is really important work.  If you consider yourself to be a patron of the arts, you’ll want to associate yourself with Madison’s gallery.

Pretty quiet - The Dude is off in his homeland eating French Toast without me.  I was supposed to meet M for drinks tonight, but had to put it off until tomorrow night for our Thanksbirthday dinner.  I’m planning to try to get caught up tomorrow on work that normally doesn’t get done, since most of the country will be away from their computers pigging out on turkey and doing some writing!

I’m looking forward to a steamy, hot shower with my steamy, hot husband followed up with steamy, hot sex.  I love taking showers together - we try to whenever we can - Marky always washes my hair for me, and of course my boobs get squeaky clean!  Our not anniversary anniversary is coming up.  Our first date was technically not our first date, since I was there with Mrs. Smith and he was just another partygoer and although we got along, I ended up on the bathroom floor at 3 am with his best friend.  Our second date was technically not our first date either, since it was Mrs. Smith’s Thanksgiving Dinner, and I ended up being the dessert in a foursome.  Our third date is kind of our first date, it’s our not anniversary anniversary.  Rather than dating, we went straight to spending the weekend together at my house.  We haven’t been apart since, except to travel.  So December 15th is our 8th not anniversary anniversary.  I’d like to do something special this year.   Thoughts? Suggestions for a cheap but neat treat?

My Weekend

What a weekend.  So I ended up changing my plans - I had too much work to go to dinner with M Friday night, so he finally gave in and told me what was in the packages.  I know you, too, are biting your nails waiting to find out.  He told me it was frivolous and something I would never guess and he was right.  He had an entire Thanksgiving dinner shipped on dry ice.  Now to eat it!!  Yum.  One year when W and I lived alone and I was an undergrad at UO still, we were really (really) poor, like food stamps poor.  We had Thanksgiving meatloaf.  I don’t see anything wrong, personally, with Thanksgiving meatloaf, but when I told M that story, he thought it was crazy — we were having drinks at Sullivan’s, and he even asked the waitress, “Have you ever heard of eating meatloaf for Thanksgiving dinner?”  At any rate, he was right - I would have never guessed that he would have a Thanksgiving dinner shipped to him, but I can’t wait to eat it!  He did confess that he already ate the cake.  That’s good - I can’t afford the calories anyway.  I still have 20 lbs. to lose!

I had a horrible night last night.  I heard that my very dear friend, The Butterfly Temptress, was transferred to the ICU.  I cried and cried and cried and then took enough Benadryl to put a horse to sleep and tried to escape through sleep.  Ultimately I just had weird dreams and horrible nightmares.  I woke up this morning to hear that she is off the ventilator and breathing on her own.  She has to get better, you see we have so much to do still!  Please send your good vibes, prayers, karma or whatever it is that you send to people her way.  One of the worst feelings in the world is knowing that no matter what you do, you can’t change the outcome.  This is one of the reasons I freaked out last night — it reminded me of Cindy’s last hours of life, where there was just nothing I could do to keep her alive.  Again and again I am reminded that we can kid ourselves all we want, but we have no control over life at all.  For a control freak like me, this is always the harshest lesson the Universe tries to teach me again and again.  I hate not being able to do anything to change the path she is on.  I hate myself for not going to visit her November 1st like I said I was going to.

Well, back to work for me.  My house has officially become a disaster and something has to be done!  I keep thinking I should really find a nice sissy maid to come and help me out… any volunteers? :)

xxxooo to Butterfly Temptress.  I’m thinking of you every second of every minute.

Life in Weirdoland

Another Great Postcard From PostSecret.com

Another Great Postcard From PostSecret.com

My life is weird.  I’ll admit that.  I spend my days talking to latex retailers, adult baby diaper manufacturers, crossdresser clothing designers, fetish models, and sex writers.  That’s not normal.  It is fun, though!

I am so looking forward to tonight.  I’m meeting M for dinner and drinks.  Aside from that, there is some secret package there that I haven’t been able to guess all week - what comes in 4 boxes with a sum total of 70 lbs. that M would have ordered??  I hate suspense!  It will be great to get away for a few hours.  Next weekend I will be in NYC! That’s almost impossible to believe!!

Saturday I think I’m not doing anything, but Sunday I’m going for my weekly French toast with The Dude and then a very special evening with Mr. Johnson.  He also has something up his sleeve, and I’m curious what he’s up to!

Countdown to NYC: 6 days!  I leave on Thursday, the party is Friday, and then I’ll spend the rest of the weekend hanging out with my favorite New Yorkers.   Mostly I’m stressed because I don’t know what to wear!  What a dilemma.  I know this complaint may make some of you throw tomatoes at the screen, but all of my clothes are too big for me - I am wearing W’s size 1 jeans.  Marky says I have to stop losing weight, but I have 20 lbs. to go still!  I’ve lost an entire person - 140 lbs.  None of my corsets fit anymore, and I need to get a coat.  I hear that there are places where it’s cold in November.  Here in Charlotte it’s still in the 70’s most days, and I’m cold!

Have you bought your calendar yet?  If not, get on it!  If you ask me nice, I’ll arrange to get it signed by all 12 ladies for you ;-)  And now I’m off for a nice 3 mile run.

Chronitons! They’ve done it again.

I woke up thinking it was Tuesday today.  How did I lose a day?  Chronitons! If you watch Futurama then you get the title, otherwise it makes no sense, I bet.

I went out with M for drinks last night and came home pretty early.  He is running in the NYC Marathon this weekend and so we won’t have our regular Friday night out this week.  I had insomnia and didn’t fall asleep until about 5 am.  Oh, and the cable went out, which means so did the internet.  So I laid in bed listening to my little pseudoPod until I couldn’t take it any longer and dug out a Futurama DVD to watch.  It’s too bad that on the night I couldn’t sleep, I also couldn’t work.  At any rate, I woke up this morning with a terrible headache like I was out partying all night, yet I had one martini.  Speaking of which, if you’re ever in town (Charlotte) you should have a Knockout Martini from Sullivan’s.  It’s their specialty drink and it’s worth every dollar.  (They also have really great lobster bisque).

So today I’m in bed working.  My head, despite the now four ibuprofen, is killing me and I have lots of work to do.  I hope your team of mutant superhero basketball players was worth it, Farnsworth!

Who Gets To Be The Lucky Man?

Who will be the lucky one?  So Tess, Diva, and I (yes, mostly Tess) cooked up this plan to find ourselves some nice, submissive, servant, arm candy for the launch party - someone to get our drinks and help us in general.  I posted about it on CatalinaLoves.com.  The first response I got was Hilarious.  You must read it.  Also, I didn’t post it but some guy sent a picture of his freakishly huge cock (note: the ad specifically says no cock shots).

Aside from that, nothing weird really happened — run of the mill day minus dinner out with M.  I think I may actually take some time off and try to enjoy an evening at home.  I know, right?!  Weird.

Best Sex Blogger Additions, 4 Women and 1 Bed, and More!

Hooray for Supergirl and Postsecret!

Hooray for Supergirl and Postsecret!

I was amazingly productive today.  I contacted several people about joining BestSexBloggers.com.  One blogger, Mollena, has already gotten all set up!  You’ll like what she has to say.  It’s worth noting that four people recommeded her blog in one week.   I’m waiting to hear back from the others, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

I sent out the official NYC Sex Bloggers Calendar Launch Party Press Release.  Whew, huge task completed.  Worth it though.  We are already having a good response on the RSVP list on Facebook.  Oh and get this - Tess, Diva, Rebecca and I are staying the night together.  You can read about it on Tess’ blog.  Yum Yum.  Can I add that I am lucky to be Catalina? Meet me at the party :)  It will be fun.

No dinner/drinks with M tomorrow night.  Sad, but he is working on a deal this weekend and that’s just how it goes sometimes.  Next week we won’t get together either because he’ll be in NYC for the marathon.  I’ll be watching on tv - maybe I’ll catch a glimpse of him - hopefully not on a stretcher ;-)

I also heard from Cindy’s aunt who is trying to work on family genealogy and scan anything I have, newspaper clippings and such, from the crash.  I’m going to dig that stuff out tomorrow and see what gaps I can fill in for them.  They were really nice.  I still haven’t heard from her son, but I’m holding out hope that his Dad gave him my message and that he gets in touch.

And so that’s about it.  Anyone interested in being a volunteer minion for some little tasks?

::yawn:: it’s 1:17 and I have to get some sleep.

27 Days To NYC!

If you are curious to see what I look like these days, I posted a picture of myself on BestSexBloggers.com today.  Don’t be frightened, Dude, it doesn’t show any of my private parts, just the shadow of my lovely bum.

I had quite the experience at Wal-Mart today.  I finally had to get my glasses replaced.  If you aren’t aware of it, they are presently held together by a bungeeish cord that is kind of rainbow pattern, like a kid’s shoelace almost.  Yes, it’s quite sexy.  I tend to try to avoid wearing them in public, but since I can’t see much without them, that is difficult.  I generally depend on M to order for me when we eat out, since I can’t see the menu.  Besides, I like it that he orders for me.  Yes, I’m a feminist damnit.  I still like it when M orders for us both.

I digress…  I was at Wal-Mart today to have an eye exam and get new glasses.  Now I have to wait a week for them since I have coke bottle lens prescriptions that have to be special made.  Um, did I mention I’m a nerd?  So I went for the classic black, square frame, plastic frames.  I think they’ll be perfect.  Hey, at least The Dude will stop telling me that I look like a Mom who is about ready to do the 5k Fun Run.

Over on CatalinaLoves.com today you’ll find my latest rave about Liberator products.  I wrote a review of the Fascinator Throe and it is a great product.  The nice thing about reviewing for really great companies like Lelo.com and Liberator.com is that their products are so good it makes it unbelievably easy to write a review.  All I have to do is open my mouth (metaphorically speaking) and out pours the praise.  You just can’t go wrong with either company!

And that’s about it.  I have to work on Fetlife projects the rest of the evening and then I’m going to watch some tv and go to bed.  Tomorrow, Nikki is coming over to work with me on some projects I’m going to be handing off to her for Quid Pro Quo.  As we grow, we need to grow, so Nikki is officially coming on board to work with Satine Phoenix.  After that I’m going out for my regular Friday night in Uptown with M.  Not sure where we’re going yet, but there isn’t a place he would choose that isn’t going to be fantastic.  I kind of like that element of surprise actually, all I know is how to dress and to be there at 8pm.  The rest is unknown.

27 Days Until I Arrive In NYC!!  Mark your calendars for Nov. 14th so you can come to the launch party and say hi to me (and buy a calendar!)
